"Cuir bouilli", also known as boiled leather, is a historical method used for creating armour and other molded items. The leather is boiled, then while still warm and pliable, it can be molded into various forms. Upon drying, it is much harder and more brittle than typical leathers. Scouts meet at the Handicraft Lodge to make and design their own leather belts. Staff can also help add initials to a belt you already have, and brands are available for belts, hats, moccasins, or other leather items. An outdoor demonstration of leatherworking is a fun event for kids of all ages! All attendees of the Clapps Chapel Vacation Bible School program will get to witness this interesting exhibit on Sunday afternoon.
